Bob Neill, pryographer

Bob is one of the leading pyrographers in the UK, pyrography being the ancient craft of burning designs on wood, leather and other materials. He works from his workshop in Aston on Trent teaching adults and children and making and designing most days.

What work are you most proud of?

Some real highs have been working abroad. I won a Winston Churchill Scholarship to do research in the USA and Canada. I was awarded a Shackleton Scholarship to teach pyrography in the Falklands and was a demonstrator at the American Association of Woodturners Symposium a couple of years ago.

What are you excited about doing next?

I’m excited about creating new designs and teaching children and adults at my workshops.  It’s great to feel you can inspire someone.
